Roofing, gutters and skylights in Antioch

Older ranches around downtown and Black Diamond may have had their roof replaced while the original gutters stayed in place. If water keeps spilling over a front walkway, we check whether the channel can carry the runoff from the roof above it. Newer homes toward Lone Tree and Sand Creek can have steeper slopes and concentrated valley flow. The inspection needs to follow that water to the eave and check the fascia that supports the gutter, rather than recommend a size from the street.

Tree debris changes through the year. Ornamental pears shed blossoms, oaks drop leaves and nearby pines add needles. Pollen and petals can collect in valleys, while roof granules wash down after a long spell of dry heat. Those materials behave differently once they reach an outlet. Clearing the channel is part of maintenance, but it is also worth checking the downspout mouth and the spots where debris gets caught before water even reaches the gutter.

Delta winds expose the roof edges and the fixings along a gutter run. Loose hangers need attention, particularly where the metal has begun to pull away or hold standing water. Wind-driven rain can also reveal a gap that stays dry in calmer weather. Once the runoff reaches ground level, it needs a route away from the foundation. We look at the discharge and surrounding soil as part of understanding repeated overflow or washing out beside the house. When arranging a visit, describe whether the spill happens in ordinary rain or only a downpour. A photo taken safely from indoors can show which valley is feeding the problem area, even if everything has dried by the inspection.
